Burrell School District students ended the year with many success stories to celebrate in all areas, including academics and sports.
For the sixth consecutive year, BSD received recognition as "Best Community for Music Education" by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation. The award is given to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in providing music access and education to all students.
"As a music staff, we first applied for the honor in the 2017 award cycle, and we have been selected all six years that we have applied," said Brian Querry, a Burrell music teacher and band director. "I believe this is evidence of the commitment to a well-rounded education on behalf of our school administration, board, and staff. Our music teachers have gone above and beyond, especially during a pandemic, to continue to offer quality opportunities to our students for education and performance, both in school and the community."
In sports, the Wrestling program has now competed in the WPIAL Dual Championship for 19 consecutive years, winning 16 of those 19 years. The program has 17 WPIAL Championships and has qualified for the PIAA Championship in all of those years.
