Burrell Partners With WCCC to Provide College Credits for Students

BSD/WCCC Articulation agreementBeginning this year, Burrell High School students will have the chance to get a head start on their college career.

The school has partnered with Westmoreland County Community College (WCCC) to offer 18 courses that will transfer to college credits if the student passes with a C or higher. Classes are available in a wide variety of subjects, including computer information technology, web design, language arts, and more. Two AP classes also qualify for the program, meaning students can earn dual college credit.

When educators are well-versed in SEL, this creates a loving and safe environment in the classroom to foster students' abilities to learn.

Three New Faculty Members Excited to Join Burrell

For the 2019-2020 school year, Burrell School District is proud to welcome three new faculty members to the team: Michael Fantuzzo, Kelly Keibler, and Frank Nesko.

Music Award iconMichael Fantuzzo — Varsity Boys’ Basketball Coach

Fantuzzo graduated from Burrell High School in 2004, so he’s no stranger to the district. Currently, he works as an occupational therapist in geriatric rehab at Fox Rehabilitation.

In his role as Varsity Boys’ Basketball Coach, he will oversee players 7th grade and up as well as the Biddy Ball program in elementary school.

Burrell STEM Team Partners With Local Manufacturing Firms

To help his middle and high school STEM teams get more career experience, Huston Middle School science teacher Shaun Reddick decided to think outside of the box.

About 10 years ago, he got in contact with Catalyst Connections, a local consulting and training services firm. They were starting a project that paired schools with manufacturing companies to give kids a taste of what it's like to work in the field.
